Dominican Republic
Best time to visit Punta Cana: Dec–Apr. Miles of white-sand beach, an all-inclusive resort corridor, and some of the Caribbean's easiest reef access.
Punta Cana is the Dominican Republic's dedicated resort coast, a roughly 20-mile stretch of white sand lined with all-inclusive properties that range from family-friendly to adults-only luxury. Bavaro Beach is the busiest and most developed section, with calm, reef-protected water that makes it easier for swimming and snorkeling than much of the open Caribbean. Isla Saona, reachable by a half-day catamaran trip, is the classic add-on excursion: its shallow sandbars are as photogenic as the marketing suggests. Outside the resort walls, the town itself is modest; most visitors come for the beach and stay on-property, with December through April the driest, calmest stretch of the year.
