The lay of the landSan Diego runs on genuinely reliable weather: mild, dry, and sunny most of the year, which is a big part of why the beaches (La Jolla, Pacific Beach, Coronado) stay busy year-round. The San Diego Zoo, inside Balboa Park, is one of the best in the world and easily fills a day, with the separate Safari Park a worthwhile add-on if there's time for both. Balboa Park itself holds 17 museums and gardens beyond the zoo, more than enough for a second day.
