300-million-year-old sandstone, tuned for sound.
Two sandstone walls, tilted upright roughly 300 million years ago by the same mountain-building that raised the Front Range, flank a stage with acoustics an opera singer once called the finest for music anywhere in the world. Dedicated in 1941 and owned by the City of Denver ever since, it hosted The Beatles in 1964, the one stop on that tour that did not sell out. The venue's own shuttles run from the far lots; a weekends-only regional transit pilot launching in 2026 does not cover typical evening showtimes, so plan on driving or rideshare. The bigger trip-planning fact is altitude: 6,450 feet with 145 steps from stage to the top row, so hydrate and eat light beforehand if you are not acclimated. July and August bring near-daily afternoon thunderstorms; shows go on, just pack a layer for after dark.
