Begin in Lima, then climb gently into Cusco, Inti Raymi, the Sacred Valley and one deliberate Machu Picchu approach.
Lima opens Peru through its UNESCO-listed historic centre, Pacific districts and singular food culture before the route climbs to Cusco. Three city nights protect long-haul arrival, while Cusco, Inti Raymi, Ollantaytambo and Machu Picchu each keep their own chapter. Machu Picchu is UNESCO mixed World Heritage property 274 and a 2007 New7Wonders selection; choose either the train and timed circuit or the separately gated four-day Classic Inca Trail.

Plan for 12-14 nights. Twelve to fourteen nights give Lima a real opening chapter, protect Cusco acclimatization and Inti Raymi, and keep the Sacred Valley, one Machu Picchu approach and recovery from competing for the same days.
Choose one approach; these are alternatives, not cumulative activities.
