The sun refuses to set.
North of the Arctic Circle the sun simply declines to go down: Tromsø keeps it above the horizon from May 20 to July 22. Fairbanks sits just below the line, and still banks seventy straight days of usable light, enough to grow hundred-pound cabbages and play midnight baseball with no stadium lights.
without a sunset in Tromsø: 63 nights
Where it is visible: Tromsø, Norway & Fairbanks, Alaska, USA
Reykjavik is marketed for midnight sun but the sun does set there; only Grímsey island, on the Arctic Circle, gets the true version briefly at solstice.
The Midnight Sun in 2027 is Mid-May to late July 2027.
