In July and August, more than four thousand beluga whales gather in the warm, food-rich Churchill River estuary on Hudson Bay to calve and moult. Curious and vocal, the canaries of the sea surround kayaks and boats, a summer counterpart to Churchill's famous autumn polar bears.
