The Orionids are the second shower each year fed by Halley's Comet. They're fast and often leave glowing trains, best viewed after midnight under a dark sky.
Moon at the peak: waxing crescent, 15% lit (excellent). A thin moon means minimal wash-out: dark skies for all but the faintest streaks.
