The best time to see Taurid Meteor Shower in 2028 is November 4-5, 2028. Timing status: Predicted dates.

Few meteors, but some of the year's brightest fireballs.

The Taurids, shed by comet 2P/Encke, are sparse but deliver slow, dazzling fireballs through late October and early November. Low rates mean patience, but a single Taurid fireball can light up the whole sky.

Moon at the peak: waning gibbous, 91% lit (poor). A near-full moon floods the sky, so only the brightest meteors will show. Better in a darker-moon year.

Why it happens

Comet 2P/Encke
Inclined 12° to Earth's orbit. Every November, Earth reaches the node where this comet's dust crosses its path, and the debris burns up as the shower.
