In the dry months the Tengger caldera does the same thing most mornings: mist pools around the volcano's feet, the sky clears, and sunrise from Penanjakan sets the whole arrangement alight. The park now runs on quotas and online booking, so the spontaneous version of this trip is over; the planned version is better anyway.
