The lay of the landBogota rewards a slower visit than most travelers give it. The historic La Candelaria neighborhood is a maze of colonial-era streets, street art, and the Museo del Oro's staggering collection of pre-Columbian gold. Above the city, the Monserrate funicular climbs to a mountaintop church with the whole metro area laid out below. The altitude keeps temperatures mild year-round (no real summer, no real winter), though afternoon rain is common outside the two dry stretches. Children's Museum of Bogotá, The Children's Museum of Bogotá was a privately managed museum foundation in Bogotá, Colombia's capital city, founded in 1986 and opened to the public in 1987. Constructed between 1973 and 1978 and opened in 1979, the skyscraper stands at a total height of 196 metres. Upon its completion, it became the tallest building in Colombia and held that title until 2007. Following the construction and subsequent destruction of the Torre de la Escollera in 2007, the building regained its status as the tallest in the country.
