Best time to visit Boston: May–Jun & Sep–Oct. Revolutionary War history, a dense walkable core, and a college-town energy that never really goes away.
Boston packs an outsized amount of American history into a genuinely walkable footprint. The Freedom Trail strings together the sites of the Revolution (Paul Revere's house, the Old North Church, Bunker Hill) in a walk that takes a few hours end to end. Beyond the history, it's a college town at heart: Harvard and MIT sit just across the river in Cambridge, and the student population keeps the bars, bookstores, and coffee shops running late. Add a serious seafood scene (lobster rolls and chowder both have real claims to being invented here) and a passionate, sometimes brutal sports culture, and it's a city that rewards walking more than driving.
The sweet spot is May–Jun & Sep–Oct. Plan around it and you will catch Boston close to its best.
