A high-desert stage built for the sunset.
The Gorge sits on a plateau above the Columbia River, with the stage angled so the sun sets directly behind the performers, an effect that has helped it win Pollstar's Best Outdoor Venue award nine times. Roughly 27,500 people fit across reserved seating and open lawn, most of them camping on-site for the weekend rather than driving in and out. Dave Matthews Band's Labor Day weekend run has become the venue's own tradition. Premium camping passes for the biggest weekends, the Labor Day DMB run especially, sell out within hours of on-sale; standard sites are first-come the day before a show. Nearest real lodging is Quincy, about 20 minutes off-site, and its hotels book up fast around headline dates. Days run 90 to 100°F in this high desert; nights drop to the 40s and 50s, bring layers.
