Best time to visit
Two separate windows work best: Mar–Apr & Oct–Nov. Pick the one that matches what you came for.
Know before you go
- Free to enter the church and Long Barrack; the paid Ralston Family Collections Center exhibit is optional but worth it if you have extra time.
- Get there at opening (9am) before tour buses arrive. There's almost no shade on the grounds and summer heat is brutal by midday.
- The gift shop building was once a Woolworths. Ask a docent about the 1960 lunch counter sit-in that happened there.
- It sits directly on the River Walk, so it's an easy add-on to a river walk stroll.
